My heart was broken this last week when I heard the news about a local girl, Callie Woods, who passed away in a terrible accident while visiting her family in Illinois. You can read the full story on WHSV
Here’s an excerpt from WHSV:
According to WSJD in Mount Carmel, Il, the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call about a five-year-old girl who had a swing set fall over on her Thursday. The girl was five-year-old Callie Woods, of Waynesboro.
Her father, Zach Woods, is the student pastor at Bridge Church in Fishersville. Ashlei Woods is the children’s pastor at the church. The church confirmed the accident to WHSV over the phone.
WSJD reported Woods was taken to Wabash General Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
We’ve done many design projects for Bridge Christian Church (They’re one of our best clients) and are active attendees, but this terrible news hit right at home for me. I have a daughter the same age as Callie Woods, and Callie was one of the first kids my daughter Ella played with her first time visiting Bridge Sunday school. I can remember seeing her welcome my daughter into the classroom with a smile. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain they’re experiencing.
Please pray for the Woods family. Zach was always very friendly and welcoming during every interaction we had, and his wife Ashlei was one of the biggest helpers with my youngest daughter’s baby dedication at Bridge.
At this time, there has not been a GoFundMe page set up, although there was an opportunity to give to meet their needs during the morning service at Bridge Christian Church. If this changes, I’ll make sure to update the post with that information.
